Host: Corinne Standish
We start the evening with conversation, light snacks and beverages.
Next is a tutorial and discussion on “Western Art Composition Conventions as they
Relate to Photography.”
Then we constructively critique work that has been submitted. Submissions may be
anonymous or named - as you prefer. Unlike salons, this is a give and take critique
involving the audience as well as the host.
We discuss and evaluate:
1) Technical aspects: camera type and model, lens, aperture, shutter speed, ISO, etc
2) What we like about the image
3) The composition and what it conveys
4) What we wish we had done differently, or alternatives that might have made the
image stronger, or worth experimenting with
5) Possible Lightroom or Photoshop edits
6) End on a positive note
One image per participant; additional images if there is time.
1.5 hour group
Preferably send your image in advance, to aid in tutorial prep, to Corinne at
cjstandish.com by way of a lossless FTP server such as WeTransfer or Hightail. Or
Dropbox. All images will be permanently deleted after the class is over. You may also
bring your image on a flash (aka “thumb”) drive. It will be displayed using an overhead
projector so that we all may see it.
